November 29, 2022

I am full of gratitude for all the messages, texts, emails, calls... the endless support from my LOVE-HUMANS. I have been lifted up and held together by all the love. My cup is overflowing!

With my good luck charms in hand (a gifted knitted F-Bomb filled with lavender, my rock from my cold plunge and a heart bracelet given to me by a friend), it was finally the day I was waiting for...

THE TREATMENT PLAN

Because I have very early stages of breast cancer (cancer remains in my ducts and has not broken through walls: DCIS and non-invasive), treatment includes surgery and radiation. No chemo. ❤️

I will be undergoing a Lumpectomy in January. I had been preparing myself for a mastectomy and thankfully, due to my family genes gracing me with an ample bosom, I have boob to spare, allowing for breast-conserving surgery. 🙌

I don't have a tumor, instead, my cancer is a galaxy of cancerous clusters spread over an area of 10 cm (about 4 inches), and they have to go. They will also be removing the Sentinel Lymph Node.
Due to the size of my breasts, my left boob won't be leaving completely, she will become smaller (and as I understand it perkier). Eventually, down the road, my right boob will get matched up with the left. As a friend put it: "so we are focusing on you getting a boob job and you’re going to have a banging rack coming out of this!" YUP.
So now I have the month of December to enjoy, celebrate the holidays, check a few more things off my to-do list and also help out with my Dad who is having knee-replacement surgery in early December. YEAH!
I was practically doing cartwheels leaving the Breast Cancer clinic! Best possible news considering. Truth is, we all have sh!t to go through in our lives, there's never avoiding that and thankfully for me and my family, this one is really just a bump in the road.

AND SO WE CELEBRATE!

The weight of not knowing has been lifted. We've GOT THIS! There has been dancing, happy tears, and quite a few woohoos! Last night David and I went out for a glorious steak dinner with lots of desserts. Happy. Oh so happy and full of gratitude.
