7 THINGS YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW TO GET READY FOR YOUR HOLIDAY BAKING

The baking countdown is on! Soon there will be intoxicating aromas wafting from holiday kitchens everywhere.

Are you baking for the holidays? Well, there's no time like the present to set up our kitchens for baking success.

Here are 7 things you can do right now to set yourself up for success and less stress!

  1. CLEAR THE DECKS: Create space for all your holiday baking essentials. Declutter and sort through your pantry, fridge, freezer and cupboards.

  2. TOSS & REFRESH: Unsure about the last time you used an ingredient? Spices lost their zing? Baking soda and baking powder still active? Best to toss and buy new. If you’re putting all that effort into baking, you want to use the freshest ingredients.

  3. PLAN YOUR RECIPES: Create a list of all the recipes you want to bake during the holidays. Consider family favourites, traditional treats and any new recipes you’d like to try. Then add the ingredients to your grocery list.

  4. CHECK YOUR TOOLS: Ensure all your baking equipment (mixers, bowls, small appliances, cookie cutters, etc.) are in good working order and don’t need replacing. Avoid last minute hiccups by checking to make sure you have everything you need ahead of time.

  5. CREATE A BAKING SCHEDULE: Pull out your calendar and schedule your Holiday Kitchen time. Consider dividing the workload: make doughs one day, bake on another day and even decorate at another time. Remember to allow extra time when baking with kids.

  6. GATHER PACKAGING & SUPPLIES: Planning on gifting your holiday treats? Or mailing a goodie package? Now is the best time to gather all the bags, gift boxes, tins, tags, ribbons and shipping supplies that way you have everything on-hand and ready to go.

  7. MAKE IT MERRY! When decorating the house for the holidays, don’t forget to decorate the kitchen too! When it’s time to bake, crank up your fav holiday tunes (check out my Holiday Kitchen playlist on Spotify) and don’t forget to put on your festive apron too!

Here's to the most wonderful time of the year: Holiday Baking!
